Johann Rupert, Executive Chairman of Richemont Group spoke on Monday at the 2015 FT Business of Luxury Summit about the need to create a unique global luxury e-commerce. When asked about the recent merger between Yoox and Net-a-Porter, Mr Ruper said Richemont has been in touch with other luxury groups such as LVMH and Kering to join the newly created platform. ‘This (E-commerce) is too big a game for one company to handle. Mr Armani and many other companies are already on board’.
Asked about his opinion on Chanel which had decided to pursue e-commerce independently, Mr Rupert said: ‘This is a completely independent platform. I can only hope the others listen to us’.
