Italian luxury accessories brand Valextra has recently opened a new store in Miami at Bal Harbour Shops. This is a store that makes few compromises when it comes to the materials palette with a frontage composed of Ceppo di Gré, a grey-blue stone, and an interior that features mid-shop marble-topped metal mesh displays, each providing a home for a single bag.

Overhead, Barrisol membranes ensure that the light is diffused across the space while the left-hand perimeter wall features more marble and shelves. It is the rear of the store that is the real showstopper however. Here a geometric structure looks a little like a very considered version of Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway, being made of wood, rather than basalt, grabs the eye from the moment the shoppers enters the store.

The new Miami opening follows the one in Hong Kong at Harbour City in December 2018, a store signed by British designer Max Lamb.
