Opened in 2001, The Ritz-Carlton Doha established itself as one of the finest luxury hotel in Qatar, years ahead of the market entry of many other international luxury hotel brands. Located in West Bay, minutes from the heart of the capital city, The Ritz-Carlton Doha was sensibly positioned to cater to both corporate and leisure guests, as well as local nationals and expatriates.
The Ritz-Carlton Doha firmly built an international reputation, impeccably reflecting the DNA of the international chain. One of the biggest achievement of the hotels has always been its consistency both in terms and product and relevance, constantly enhancing its Food & Beverage offering but also its Spa. With consistency and relevance, reliability also added to the attributes of the property which has been regarded as a flagship since opening.
Many international calibre luxury hoteliers started their careers at The Ritz-Carlton Doha or further developed their careers while working for the property, which thus garnered respect from both within the luxury hospitality sector but also among guests, setting and maintaining the highest standards. During my stay, it was such a joy to see how much the property is cherished and loved. Generations have now grown up, coming to the hotel and the fact that the property has maintained its desirability among a younger segment is yet another major achievement.
With the FIFA World Cup 2022 coming up in November this year, the hotel sparkles while having emerged from an extensive renovation of all its rooms and suites – among the largest and most bright in Doha. Beds are exceptionally comfortable and particular attention has been paid to allocate generous wardrobes and beautiful bathrooms, which as much as they are a feast to the eye, they are extremely comfortable. There are now touch control pads for lighting, AC, DNA and curtains, further enhancing comfort. With the renovation, the hotel has added an impressive line-up of Presidential Suites (Amiri Suites) – probably the most complex suite offering in Qatar.
The addition of new prestigious dining venues such as STK and B Lounge (Buddha Bar), both met with great success from opening, are one again a reflection of the flawless service not to mention the exceptional food (choice, variety & presentation) but also incredibly high service standards. Again, you will love the mix of local nationals, expats but also international visitors. The Friday Brunch is one of the buzziest venues in town.
Despite its rather high inventory of rooms and suites (374), the hotel has also continuously enhanced and perfected its customer service, which has remained consistent, heart-felt, genuine and highly personalised and individualised. You will most likely be recognised and greeted by your name no matter the interaction with staff, throughout the entire property. There is also an immense passion to serve and this is highly appreciated by guests, many of them having become loyal / returning guests over time.
Following the hardships and restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the fast rebound of the property is impressive – especially regaining the motivation and the energy of the staff plays a very important part especially with the opening of so many new luxury properties. The renovations have also brought a new energy to the property which still remains grand in many ways – it probably boast one of the most impressive grand-dame style hotel entrance – truly majestic in size. Be prepared to be mesmerised by the abundance of fresh flowers throughout the entire property.
The Club Lounge on the 23rd floor not only offers spectacular panoramic views but has also set new standards when it comes to Club Lounges. The completely refurbished lounge resembles more like a luxurious living room in a mansion where friends gather for a drink or a light meal. Despite the very high occupancy which the property boasted during my stay, the lounge has never felt crowded or busy at any time of the day, including breakfast which s a treat.
With its location on a peninsula, The Ritz Carlton Doha is among the very few luxury hotels which have their own sand beach. The property also boasts several outdoor pools but also an olympic size indoor pool, so that every guest, regardless of age or interests, would find a most diverse wellness offering. The pools but also the beach access as well as the beautiful greenery which is unique recreate the feel of an oasis, a true urban Spa. There are no highways / boulevards with traffic in the immediate proximity and there is very limited traffic. Location will also make you feel safe, not to mention the privacy.
Besides the swimming pools, outdoor gardens, a superb gym and the natural sand beach, there are also two tennis courts as well as one squash court. The state-of-the-art Spa is among the finest among any luxury hotel in Doha. Drawing inspiration from the glittering Arabian Gulf, each signature spa treatment ensures total serenity by blending Arabic principles, Asian traditions and European concepts. The unique Ritz-Carlton Spa Suite for uninterrupted comfort and privacy and two innovative Hammam treatment rooms.
STK Doha proposes a menu of superlative meats and rare cuts from around the world, including Japanese Wagyu, USDA prime fillet and Australian Tomahawk is complemented by meat-free and raw vegan options, alongside fresh seafood . The high-energy atmosphere and sophisticated vibe will make your dining experience with endless views of the city, one of the best to date. B Lounge of Buddha Bar features the most sought after Friday brunch in town. Weekday evenings and for brunch, a DJ mixes live music.
With its unique stand alone setting by the marina, B-Lounge is the place to see and be seen. The evening provides sweeping views of the marina, while day-time both the marina and skylines are impressive. Premium sushi, sashimi and ceviche is served alongside fresh fish and meats cooked on a robata charcoal grill, whilst marina-side views and chilled-out beats offer a sensory backdrop. Similar to all the other venues of the hotel, service is of the highest standards – young, fresh, energetic.
As an urban oasis, the hotel also attracts families and children – while children have a wide variety of activities, the hotel is perfectly equipped to welcome kids of any age, For singles, couples or those o business, do rest assures you will not be disturbed by the children.
A big thank you to the entire team of Ladies and Gentlemen at The Ritz-Carlton Doha, led by Carlo Javakhia – who strive for perfection every single day at any time of the day. They will go out of their way to pamper you and adapt to the needs and requirements of the most discerning guests.
