Omega to introduce a new version of the 1969 Speedmaster Mark II at Baselworld 2014
Omega has just released a preview of one of their most important new timepieces for 2014. At Baselworld, Omega will unveil a reissue of the 1969 Omega Speedmaster Mark II. It will come with two dial options, and instead of a manually wound movement, like the original (caliber 861), the 2014 version will include a modern automatic inside.
Zenith unveils three new spectacular timepieces at Baselworld 2014
The new El Primero Lightweight is distinguished by its carbon case featuring an original and complex construction. Sporty, contemporary and decidedly masculine, the new El Primero Lightweight gives a new breath of life to the Zenith collection, while confirming the innovative capacities and creative daring of the Manufacture. Zenith chose titanium to make the main parts of the movements, which are the heaviest when they are made in brass; namely the main plate and five bridges, the barrel bridge, the balance bridge, the lever-bridge, the lever-wheel bridge and the chronograph bridge. The result is a 25% lighter weight. The open worked dial provides another bird’s eye view of this legendary movement, the El Primero 400B Titanium.
The generously hollowed-out facetted hour-markers bear a luminescent coating, while the light grey, blue and anthracite counters pick up the three characteristic colours of the 1969 El Primero chronograph that have become one of the collection’s key signature features. The blue central sweep-seconds chronograph hand with its small Zenith star is accurate to the nearest tenth of a second. The choice of carbon reinforces the technical and sporty look. The internal structure of the case is in ceramised aluminium, a cutting-edge material blending lightness, resistance and hardness.
Girarrard Perregaux presents the New Chrono Hawk Steel Bracelet. The Chrono Hawk line is now available with a stainless steel bracelet in a design and perfect finish that once again demonstrates Girard-Perregaux’s excellence. The new bracelet of Girard-Perregaux’s Chrono Hawk line instills power and elegance into this resolutely masculine range. Its links form a pattern of remarkable purity and their lines epitomize contemporary watch design. This aesthetic is matched by equally advanced technical qualities, honing the multiple connections between these steel parts for optimum comfort when wearing. This new bracelet has a distinctive functional geometric style combining two types of links ; the first type generates a powerful line running along the middle, while the second surrounds the first.
Bell &Ross Carbon Orange
Bell & Ross will unveil the BR 03-94 Carbon Orange – on a bright orange canvas strap — in a limited edition of 500 pieces. This new watch reflects the two most important colors in cockpit instruments: matte black and bright orange. The BR 03-94 Carbon Orange, with ETA 2894 automatic movement, offers optimum legibility. The watch is made of black PVD steel, with orange polycarbonate ABS protective cover on the tappet and a photo luminescent dial complete with orange center seconds hand. For those who like a more toned-down look—though the orange is bold and superb – it is offered with a black rubber strap.
Corum presents the Admirals Cup AC One 45 Double Tourbillionn Chroronometric Precision Accelarator at Baselworld 2014
Regarded as the epitome of sporting chic in the noblest sense of the term, the Admiral’s Cup now welcomes an eminently complicated new movement: hand-wound Caliber CO 1008. This exclusive mechanism features nothing less than a double tourbillon, combined with a retrograde date and an ingenious time-adjustment system.
Corum has achieved an authentic tour de force in equipping its new Caliber CO 1008 with not just one but indeed two parallel-mounted tourbillons, dedicated to ensuring remarkable reliability backed by a generous 72-hour power reserve. While the two tourbillons spin on the lower part of the dial, a dynamic red arrow points to the retrograde date segment appearing on the upper part like an extension of the two carriages. The dazzling style of the Admiral’s Cup AC-One 45 Double Tourbillon continues on the bridge side, where the transparent back reveals the beauty of the mechanical caliber oscillating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz).
